Don’t Be Afraid To Express Yourself

By

As we are well aware, not only our words are powerful. Many times our  talk can actually be cheap, and our non-verbal communication can also have us paying a hefty price.

Because we can tend to show our feelings through our movements; our facial expressions, eye contact, gestures and even tone of voice; we may come across in ways to the receiver that may have them feeling confused if our actions don’t match what we are saying.

Especially in relationships; we may try to convince our partner that everything is ok; meanwhile how we express ourselves, non verbally- may be the otherwise..

Complications can arise when there is an inconsistency to what is coming out of our mouths, verses what our bodies are sharing- creating a lack of communication- if not handled correctly.

Relationships are hard enough, when we are doing our best, at times, to try to read each others minds. Attempting to read the words, and moreover; read the body language, when both are not in sync.  We can drive ourselves and our significant others crazy!

By learning what our feelings are, we may choose to take inventory on how our bodies are feeling, by how our bodies are reacting, as a result.

To take it a step further, we can understand the importance of being honest with ourselves, and being vulnerable enough to others we connect with, with what these feelings and emotions are, and our patterns for how we sometimes try to ‘put on a happy face’, while our physical beings are telling a different story.

We must choose to be present to not only our environments, but also to be present with our inner story.
We can grow from being more discerning to how we are articulating our thoughts outwardly through our movements, so we are able to move forward in a more loving, compassionate and truthful way- leading the way to a happier, more loving connection- always starting with ourselves.
